Helwig Real Estate Services (HRES) is a Boston area based independent commercial real estate consulting practice with over 40 years of residential and commercial real estate experience. Charles E. "Charlie" Helwig, HRES' principal, offers extensive and varied real estate experience rooted in learning the trade in the early 1970s at Columbia, Maryland based The Rouse Company. Charlie assumed management roles in sales, leasing and development management in projects as diverse as the 14,000 acre Columbia, MD master planned communities (MPC), downtown revitalization initiatives, waterfront redevelopments and resolving distressed assets as advisor to the RTC/PwC.

Covid-19 Pandemic Statement: In February 2020 marking the beginning of the Covid-19 virus in the US, Charles E. "Charlie" Helwig, principal of HRES was forced to curtail all consulting and advisory services to our clients. We have been following strict protocol established by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the National Institute of Health Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Upon full vaccination of HRES' principal, alliance partners and clients contacts, we will resume active consulting and advisory activities. We anticipate that to occur sometime in 2021 depending on regional Covid-19 infection data. Upon full vaccination of HRES principal and alliance partners, we will resume active consulting and advisory activities.

Prior to the Covid shutdown, Charlie Helwig, principal of Helwig Real Estate Services (HRES), provided consulting services to private real estate investors assisting in sourcing, negotiating, underwriting investments in select residential multifamily rental and sale projects nationally. Multifamily residential investments to date are located in Austin, TX "South of Congress", Lebanon/Hanover, NH in Dartmouth College developed Master Planned Community "Centerra", near Dartmouth College and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and in Richmond, Virginia in Shockoe Bottom within an "Opportunity Zone".

Other select consulting assignments in which we've been involved over our 40 year history include: (i) the redevelopment of Waterfront Village (mixed use) in Buffalo, NY; (ii) the redevelopment of the Lower Locks area in downtown Lowell, Massachusetts for a hotel, training center and 1,000 car Lower Locks Parking; (iii) the redevelopment of a downtown Wilmington DE surface parking lot into a 230 room all suite hotel (Downtown Wilmington Sheraton Suites Hotel) and parking garage across from Dupont's Headquarters; (iv) maximizing the value of a historic (1850) Main Street, Nantucket commercial building and (v) structuring the sale and development of 5 acres adjacent to the Nantucket Memorial Airport for 48 units of affordable non-subsidized cluster housing and a 99,000 sf commercial use.
